So I love to cook! It brings me such joy when I’m doing it. I love to cook because I love to eat. And I’m pretty darn good at it. I didn’t know I loved it so much until I met my hubs and started cooking for him. I always said if we won the lotto I would go to culinary school. Not because I want to be a chef or open my own restaurant, but because I want to learn EVERYTHING about food.
I have to accredit my ever growing knowledge to food network. Rachel Ray before she got famous to be exact. I learned the proper way to hold a knife, about having a good cutting board, the wonders of a gas stove, good pots and my lovely garbage bowl. Now don’t get me wrong being African American I came from a family of good food, but we only had soul food. And I swear I think I really should have been Italian. But my Rachel Ray days are over and I have moved on to Ina Garten. The Bearfoot Contessa. I love love her. My next goal is to master Julia I’m very intimidated by her. And I like pictures. The book I seen of her’s didn’t have colorful pictures.
So this week I was sick of the same old stuff; so I took to my new favorite thing… Pinterest. I cooked something new for everyday from something off pinterest. I even made my first quiche.
So here was my list and sorry don’t have pictures for all of them.
Monday: quiche-potatos, chicken, peppers, onions, and cheese. Topped with salsa
Tuesday: White Castle burgers.
Wednesday: cornbread taco bake. All the things you put on a taco ( except lettuce) with a cheesy corn bread top
Thursday: sesame chicken. I added broccoli, and since I don’t like rice I put it over whole wheat noodles
Friday: shepherd’s pie. I’ve made this plenty of times, but I normally use hamburger. This time I used a chuck roast. (great way to get lil one to eat veggies) I put corn, carrots, and zucchini in mine. Topped with sour cream and chive potatoes.
Saturday: shrimp tacos. Sautéd shrimp with sweet red slaw, mango salsa ( hint of mint from my garden) and guacamole if you like it. My hubs hates avocado and guacamole so I only make it out of one avocado.
Now for Sunday we are having grilled pork loin (sweet and spicy rub) corn on the cob and red potatoes with a dill vinaigrette.
This was fun. And my family really enjoyed it. So I’m going to try it again next week. Who knows this could be a new cooking adventure. If you have any good cooking ideas please feel free to send them my way.
